    INDEPENDENT STUDY AND INTERVENTION TEACHER

     

    SUMMARY:

    To implement the Butte Valley Unified School District Independent Study Program and oversee the comprehensive intervention program designed to mitigate learning losses and address academic needs of student to reach their academic goals. To provide a high-quality instructional program that meets state standards and instructional minute requirements. Teacher will provide instruction in small group and one-on-one in an independent study setting and work closely with parents and students to develop individualized learning plans based on students’ present skill levels and academic goals.

     

    JOB DUTIES:

    INDEPENDENT STUDY:

    1. Enrolls and keeps records for attendance for all students in the Independent Study Program

    2. Have direct contact with students and parents as required by A.B.130, keeping accurate and updated student records.

    3. Write lesson plans for each assigned student. Advise parents as to appropriate teaching strategies.

     

    INTERVENTION:

    1. Provides direct instruction to students identified as eligible for intervention services in individual, and/or small group settings.

    2. Uses identified needs to guide the learning process toward student achievement of district’s content standards. Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects using formal and informal assessment data obtained from students.

    3. Uses a variety of manipulatives, modalities and hands-on activities to support content standards and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.

    4. Creates a classroom environment and research-based program of study that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.

     

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or higher

     

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

    • Valid California Teaching Credential.

    • Current Certificate of Freedom from Active Tuberculosis
