Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope this letter finds you and your family well and hope you are managing the challenging times we are currently living in. Information about the COVID-19 situation changes daily, and it impacts our lives greatly. I truly understand the hardship this places on families, and I do not take any of the decisions we have to make lightly. I want you to know that we truly care about your child(ren) and make our decisions with them in mind.

Currently, we are planning on starting the school year with distance learning on Monday, August 24, 2020. Every student will receive a Chromebook to use to support our distance learning program. If you do not have cell or internet service, we will be reaching out to you to accommodate your student's needs.

Teachers will be meeting with students and parents to distribute Chromebooks on either Thursday or Friday, August 20th or 21't. During this meeting, parents will sign the internet contract for technology use and get class information from the teacher(s).

While we do not have all of the answers yet and recognize that there will be some bumps in the road, our staff is working hard to address potential challenges including access to the internet and
curriculum. While we have Chromebooks for all students, we have not had the challenge of having all of our students engaged in distance learning on them at the same time. We ask for your patience as we work through these challenges. I have attached our calendar and high school/elementary school schedules for distance learning. If you have questions, please call the District Office at (530) 397-4000.

Thank you again for your patience and support.

Sincerely,
HeidiGerig
Superintendent/Principal
